During your PADI Rescue Diver programme you will learn how to anticipate, prevent and manage potential diving accidents. From assisting a tired diver to handling emergency scenarios, you will practice applying the knowledge and skills that can make all the difference in the event problems do arise. This is probably the best training programme you could ever take, keeping you and others safe in the water.
Couple this programme with Emergency First Response (EFR) and it will give you the confidence to respond to medical emergencies not just in the diving world, but in every day life.
How do I get started?
As with all of the diving education programmes at Aquasport you start with the training materials. You will need to complete the Emergency First Response (EFR) before you can start your Rescue Diver so we recommend that you pay a £150 deposit and take all your training materials for the four programmes. The EFR takes one day and is normally completed on the Saturday before the start of your Rescue Diver programme.
What will I do?
Until now the emphasis of your training has been on basic accident prevention and safe diving. The PADI Rescue Diver programme takes you to the next level, expanding your knowledge to include accident management and various rescue techniques.
The EFR first aid programme is recognised by government agencies in the UK. You will learn first aid and CPR techniques for adults.
After your EFR programme we have three days of intense rescue training to complete. In our fully equipped multi-media classrooms you will learn how to deal with many different scenarios, from how to deal with a simple jellyfish sting to assisting with the emergency services in a full blown missing diver scenario.
You will put into practice what you learn in a combination of skills in the pool and open water culminating in a day of scenarios at one of our local open water dive sites. Never before will you have been so challenged in your diving skills and in what you have learnt.
How long will it take?
The Rescue Diver programme takes place over two weekends starting with EFR on the first Saturday. On the Sunday you will complete the theory sections from the PADI Rescue Diver Manual. The following Saturday and Sunday will cover all the practical sessions.
